Yes,
I’ve returned to World of Warcraft after resisting its enticements for nearly a year. Initially I felt that I’d once again thrown away £8.99 for an experience that would - after a short period of joyful addiction - become shallow and tiresome. At the moment, after more than a week of being subscribed, I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s very possible that I feel this way because I’m still experiencing the aforementioned period of joyful addiction. In fact that is almost certainly the case. But ultimately, I’ve spent some money on a gaming experience which I’m enjoying, and that’s fine really.
I’ve also bought and installed the expansion pack, Burning Crusade. I’ve yet to experience any of the expansion content. I haven’t been to the new starting areas for the Draenei and the Blood Elves, but I will do soon. I’ve heard that Silvermoon, the Blood Elf city, is particularly impressive. My main character Eldilor, a Night Elf warrior, is now level 55, which means I’m not far from being able to venture through the dark portal and into Outland. I’m certainly looking forward to that.
Prior to re-subscribing I was playing through Jade Empire, and I’m sure I was very near to finishing it. However, my renewed addiction to WoW has ensured that I’ve spent no time on it at all. At some point I’ll get back to it.
For the moment my tasks are to level up Eldilor, as well as progressing through my newly acquired professions, mining and blacksmithing. I’ve got an alt character, Korth - a level 25 Tauren Druid - which I’m also enjoying playing with. I’m trying out cooking with him.
I predict that in about two or three months I’ll probably be saying how I’m totally bored of WoW, and how I should never have re-subscribed. But for now, things are good.
